Real World article
(written from a Production point of view)

Carey Wilber (26 June 19162 May 1998; age 81) was a television writer and journalist.

At age 14, Wilber was thrown out of Catholic school for reading Voltaire instead of his prayer missal. He turned to journalism as a result, and worked at numerous newspapers, including the Toronto Globe and The New York Times.

In the early 1950s, Wilber began writing for television, including such shows as Bonanza, Lost In Space, Tarzan, and The Time Tunnel, for which he wrote more episodes than any other writer. In 1966, he wrote the story for The Original Series episode "Space Seed", and received secondary teleplay credit with Gene L. Coon.
