Template:Realworld Cary Loftin (born 31 January 1914 in Blountstown, Florida; died 4 March 1997 in Huntington Beach, California) was a stunt performer and stunt driver for films and television (sometimes credited as Carey Loftin) who was an (uncredited) truck driver in the Original Series episode "The City on the Edge of Forever". His stunt credits span six decades and over 100 films and TV shows. He also occasionally appeared in the projects for which he performed stunts, usually in the role of a driver of an automobile of some kind. Perhaps the most notable of the latter was the (mostly) unseen maniacal truck driver who chased down Dennis Weaver in Steven Spielberg's acclaimed 1971 TV movie Duel. He was also the stunt coordinator for this project.

Loftin has also served as stunt coordinator on a number of films, including 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, THX 1138, Walking Tall, The Sugarland Express, The Deer Hunter, The China Syndrome, and The Dead Zone. He has also performed stunts for such acclaimed and popular films as Rebel Without a Cause, Spartacus, Patton, The French Connection, and The Goonies. His skills as a stunt driver especially came to use for films such as It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, The Great Race, Bullitt (for which he participated in the now legendary car chase scene), The French Connection (working on the film's famous car chase), 1972's The Getaway, Brian De Palma's Blow Out, and Days of Thunder.

After retiring in 1990 at age 76, Loftin passed away in 1997, aged 83. His final stunt work was for Clint Eastwood's film The Rookie.
