Three of the models in use

Carey Howe is a model maker who created the models of the quasi-energy microbe lifeforms for the Star Trek: The Next Generation sixth season episode "Realm Of Fear". The same year he also created a space station for an episode of The Next Generation. [1](X)

Howe's other credits as effects artist and model maker include the science fiction film Scared to Death (1980), the horror comedy House (1986, with Earl Ellis, Richard Snell, Kirk Thatcher, Steve Burg, and Larry Odien), the horror comedy Critters (1986, with Gerald Quist), the comedy Flicks (1987), the horror sequel Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood (1988, with Joe Lombardi, Joe Podnar, and Richard Snell), the science fiction horror film Bride of Re-Animator (1990), the horror sequel Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991, with Scott Schneider, Robert Spurlock, and Mark Stetson), the science fiction film Future War (1997), the television series The Chronicle (2001), and the fantasy adventure The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001).

In 2004, Howe worked as producer, writer and director on the horror film 666: The Demon Child. He previously directed the science fiction film Starforce in 2000 on which he also worked as set constructor and CGI Artist. Joe Murphy worked as stunt coordinator on the latter one.
