The Cardassia system is the home star system of the Cardassians and the political center of the Cardassian Union. The system is located only a few light-years from the Bajor system. (DS9: "Explorers")
- The Star Trek: Star Charts ( whose use as canon is Debated ), states that the Cardassia system is made up of a total of eight planets and contains two asteroid belts. It also cites a distance of 5.25 light-years between Bajor and Cardassia.
