Cardassian law had stipulations on the custody of children. In 2370, Kotan Pa'Dar was fighting for custody of his son Rugal. Pa'Dar began citing a stipulation from this law when he was interrupted by Rugal's adoptive father Proka Migdal. Proka denied the applicability of this provision, stating, "There is no more Cardassian law on Bajor." (DS9: "Cardassians")
Under Cardassian law, the offender was guilty before appearing in a trial and, in some cases, the execution was arranged before the trial began. During the trial, the offender was compelled into testifying and could not decline a question. (DS9: "Tribunal")
