Bynaus is a planet in the Beta Magellan system, located near the Tarsas system. It is inhabited by the Bynars, a race that relies heavily on computer technology.

In 2364, the planetary computer on Bynaus was shut down to protect it from the electromagnetic pulse generated by the star Beta Magellan when it went nova. A team of Bynars commandeered the USS Enterprise-D from Starbase 74, where it was undergoing routine system upgrades. The Enterprise computer was the only mobile computer in range with sufficient memory to back up the data stored in the Bynaus computer. The starship arrived at Bynaus just in time to restart the computer before the Bynars perished. (TNG: "11001001")
