A bus or coach was a type of large automobile especially designed for the transport of passengers over a designated route. A typical bus bore signs on the body and on interior panels advertising products. Passengers were informed by signs about behaving properly and being safe on a bus. Above the driver's window, there was a destination display which displayed information on the route's number and major streets on that route.

The town of Carbon Creek had a bus stop in 1957. (ENT: "Carbon Creek")

While visiting Earth in 1986, James T. Kirk and Spock traveled across the Golden Gate Bridge to the Cetacean Institute aboard a bus. While en route, they were annoyed by the loud music of a punk's boom box, until Spock used the Vulcan neck pinch to knock him unconscious, which caused his head to fall over and switch off his boom box. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)

In 2024, Seven of Nine and Raffaela Musiker rode a Metro Local bus while searching for Cristóbal Rios in Los Angeles. Once again, the same punk that rode the bus in San Francisco was present as well. This time, when Seven asked him to shut off his music, he respectfully complied, and then apologized, telling her he just liked the song. (PIC: "Watcher")

Cristóbal Rios, as well as a number of other prisoners, were being driven to a Sanctuary District located at the U.S.-Mexico border in a prison bus that was manufactered by MCI. They were rescued by Seven of Nine and Raffaela Musiker. (PIC: "Watcher", "Fly Me to the Moon")

In the alternate reality, when Thomas Harewood went to work at the Kelvin Memorial Archive with the intention of destroying it with a bomb, a bus drove by the building. (Star Trek Into Darkness)

To be thrown under the bus was to be sacrificed by another to save that person from facing certain consequences. In the alternate reality, in the year 2259, when Spock filed a report about how Captain Kirk had violated the Prime Directive on the planet Nibiru, Kirk told Spock that he had thrown him "under the bus." (Star Trek Into Darkness)

In 2259, there was a bus shown on a news viewscreen in a public space on Kiley 279. (SNW: "Strange New Worlds")

In 2369, while meeting with the Prophets in the Bajoran wormhole, Benjamin Sisko showed them a memory of a baseball game, with a bus of the Chicago Cubs in the background. (DS9: "Emissary")

In 2374 (or 1953), when Benjamin Sisko began dreaming about being Benny Russell, his initial confusion almost caused him to be run over by a Municipal Bus Lines bus. (DS9: "Far Beyond the Stars")
