Background

This class designation was seen on the Starship Mission Status background artwork in the observation lounge that first appeared in TNG Season 4.

The class was likely named in honor of science fiction author Ray Bradbury.

Apocrypha

A ship description was mentioned in supplements to the Last Unicorn Games role playing games, which refers to this vessel as being a 335m long heavy frigate in service from 2362, with 10 decks, and describes it as being similar to one of the un-filmed Intrepid-class prototypes designed during preproduction of Star Trek: Voyager.
