A box wrench was a wrench that had a ring-like end designed to fit over a nut or bolt.

In 2374, Tom Paris had a box wrench he used on his Camaro's carburetor in his Grease Monkey holoprogram. Steth borrowed it briefly and used Paris' cellular residue to check whether Human DNA was compatible for selected DNA exchange. (VOY: "Vis à Vis")
