Bishop/P 374 was a non-oxidizing explosive. This explosive was used in remote spectroscopy vaporization devices for scientific and industrial applications. It was provided in several different sizes ranging from 0.02 g to 2.3 kg depending on the application. This explosive was developed by the R'M'Yr B'rneht Institute. In 2367, this explosive was stored on aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D.

In that year, Bishop/P 374 was on a list of explosives that Lieutenant Commander Data and Counselor Deanna Troi searched through in an attempt to find one that could produce enough energy to release the USS Enterprise-D and an alien ship from the Tyken's Rift. (TNG: "Night Terrors")

This compound was named after Phil Bishop, an employee at CBS Home Entertainment. [[1]]
