Bishop/P 374 was a non-oxidizing explosive. This explosive was used in remote spectroscopy vaporization devices for scientific and industrial applications. It was provided in several different sizes ranging from 0.02 gram to 2.3 kilograms depending on the application. It was developed by the R'M'Yr B'rneht Institute. In 2367, this explosive was stored on aboard the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D.
In that year, Bishop/P 374 was on a list of explosives that Lieutenant Commander Data and Counselor Deanna Troi searched through in an attempt to find one that could produce enough energy to release the USS Enterprise-D and an alien ship from the Tyken's Rift. (TNG: "Night Terrors")
