Biometrics is the study of methods for uniquely recognizing Humans based upon one or more intrinsic physical or behavioral traits.

In an unknown, alternate future timeframe, Cambridge University had a biometrics lab among its facilities. Data suggested using the lab to run a series of neurographic scans on Jean-Luc Picard, who claimed to be skipping through time. (TNG: "All Good Things...")
