Bilana III was the third planet in the Bilana system, and was an inhabited planet.
In 2368, Doctor Ja'Dar conducted the first test of the soliton wave, a new form of propulsion, from Bilana III. Twenty-three field coils installed on the planet's surface generated the wave towards Lemma II, where a similar installation was to dissipate the wave. This planet was located three years light years from Bilana III. (TNG: "New Ground")
According to the Star Trek Encyclopedia, Bilana III was a Federation planet.
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts, on the chart "United Federation of Planets I", this planet was listed as a member planet of the Federation in 2378.
