Bek was a Prylar of the Bajoran religion during the Occupation of Bajor. During the time of the Kendra Valley Massacre he was the liaison for the Vedek Assembly and the Occupational Government. Two days after the massacre, Bek hung himself on the Promenade of Terok Nor and claimed in his suicide note that he gave the Cardassians the location of the resistance fighters in the Kendra Valley.

In actuality, the information was provided by Kai Opaka, and Bek hanged himself to protect the truth about Kai Opaka's involvement. (DS9: "The Collaborator")

Bek was played by Tom Villard.
He was named after Donald R. Beck, who produced previews for TNG and DS9, as well as numerous Star Trek documentaries. (Star Trek Encyclopedia 2nd ed., p. 39)
The character also appears in the Star Trek: Terok Nor novel Dawn of the Eagles.
