Template:Disambiguate A bar is an establishment, place, or business where beverages, often containing alcohol or synthehol, are sold or otherwise distributed and consumed. A bar also refers to the long, raised table that such establishments usually contain.

A person who "tends" bar by serving drinks is called a bartender. The owner or proprietor of a bar, who is sometimes also the bartender, is sometimes called a barkeep.

Bars are often attached to restaurants or serve food in addition to beverages. They will also sometimes offer entertainment, such as games or music, either recorded or performed live.

Bars which require money to obtain food or drink sometimes extend credit to patrons, which is often summarized in a bar bill. (VOY: "Caretaker")
