Bajoran system

LCARS diagram of the Bajoran system

The Bajoran system was an inhabited planetary system. This system contained fourteen planets, with Bajor being the largest. A plasma field called the Denorios Belt was located between the orbits of Bajor IX and Bajor X, forming a natural border between the inner and outer system. (DS9: "The Nagus") This system was located approximately thirty thousand light years from the galactic core in the Alpha Quadrant. (Star Trek: Voyager, Season 7 production art [1])

In the 16th century, the Bajorans explored the system using lightships. (DS9: "Explorers")

The Bajoran system became one of the most strategically important locations in the quadrant following the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole in 2369. (DS9: "Emissary")

In 2372, the Klingon Empire attempted to secretly place a cloaked minefield around the Bajoran system, which would have allowed them to cut it off from the galaxy. The minefield was discovered and detonated by the crew of the USS Defiant. (DS9: "Sons of Mogh")

The Dominion occupied the Bajoran system (though not Bajor itself) from the beginning of the Dominion War in late 2373, until they were forced out in the aftermath of Operation Return the following year. (DS9: "Call to Arms", "Sacrifice of Angels")
