The Auxiliary Control Center was a section aboard starships, which acted as a supplemental control center to the bridge and main engineering. If necessary, a starship could be controlled from this room alone.

In the mid-22nd century, the Vulcan D'Kyr-type had an auxiliary control room on the ship's engineering deck. Emergency bulkheads throughout the ship could be deactivated from this area. The room also had a transceiver. In 2153, Captain Archer led an away team from Enterprise NX-01 to the auxiliary control room aboard D'Kyr-type starship Seleya, in order to effect an escape from the vessel. (ENT: "Impulse")

In the final draft script of "Impulse", the Vulcan auxiliary control room was described as "a compact control center filled with Vulcan consoles and instrumentation." The set was built on Paramount Stage 8. (ENT Season 3 Blu-ray, "Impulse" text commentary)

There was likewise an Auxiliary Control Center aboard Constitution-class starships. In 2267, after Nomad was brought aboard the USS Enterprise, the probe was taken to Auxiliary Control and shown a star chart depicting the vessel's point of origin: Earth. (TOS: "The Changeling")

Later that year, the USS Constellation was attacked by a doomsday machine dubbed the "planet killer". The ship was heavily damaged, with the main bridge being rendered uninhabitable. Commodore Matthew Decker beamed his crew down to the surface of the third planet in the star system L-374. Before he could beam down himself, another attack took the transporters off line, and Decker watched in horror as the Planet Killer destroyed the third planet and consumed the remains for fuel. When the Enterprise arrived, Decker was found in Auxiliary Control, suffering from severe shock. After beaming Doctor Leonard McCoy and Commodore Decker back to the Enterprise, Captain Kirk was able to command the Constellation from Auxiliary Control, eventually destroying the "planet killer" that threatened billions of lives in Federation space. In 2268, the android Norman commandeered the Enterprise by overriding bridge control of the helm and locking the ship on a course for the planet Mudd. (TOS: "I, Mudd")

The malevolent Gorgan was able to gain temporary control of the Enterprise. Members of the engineering staff, including Lieutenant Commander Montgomery Scott, were led to believe that Captain Kirk's efforts to bypass the main bridge controls would result in the destruction of the ship. (TOS: "And the Children Shall Lead")

Controlled by Sevrin and his followers

In 2269, the Auxiliary Control room of the USS Enterprise was commandeered by Dr. Sevrin and his followers in a successful bid to gain control of the ship in order to find what they believed to be the location of the planet Eden. (TOS: "The Way to Eden")

Auxiliary Control was often successfully used by "guests" aboard the USS Enterprise when they wished to hijack control of the ship.

Defiant-class starships also contained an auxiliary control section. In 2374, when the USS Defiant lost phaser control while under attack by a Jem'Hadar ship, Captain Sisko ordered Commander Worf to Auxiliary Control in order to target the phasers manually. (DS9: "One Little Ship")

Galaxy-class starships were equipped with an auxiliary control center in the engineering section. (TNG: "The Mind's Eye")

The Master Situation Monitor in main engineering on the USS Enterprise-D distinguished this center from the battle bridge in a list of locations. Based on it being in the same block of locations as the battle bridge, it is probable that the center was located in the "neck" of the ship.
