Askwith in coma

Corporal Askwith was a member of the Earth Starfleet in the mid-2150s.

In 2154, Askwith was working as a security guard at the United Earth Embassy on Vulcan. He recognized Stel entering the Embassy prior to planting a bomb that killed nearly everyone there.

Askwith survived the explosion, but was sent into a coma. In a controversial move, Soval melded minds with Askwith and discovered that it was in fact Stel who planted the bomb to frame T'Pau and the Syrrannite movement.

The information gained from the mind meld with Askwith was declared inadmissable by the Vulcan High Command and Soval was stripped of his position for performing this "despicable" act. (ENT: "The Forge")

Askwith was played by Rafael Boza.
Corporal Askwith was named after Mark Askwith, a moderator at spacecast.com and friend of the Star Trek: Enterprise writers.
He is the only Starfleet member to be shown with the military rank of corporal, and the second Starfleet member to be shown with a non-naval rank (the first being Colonel West). The relationship has never been explained, although Askwith could be a MACO.
