Arnold Moss (28 January 191015 December 1989; age 79)[1] was the actor who played Anton Karidian / Kodos the Executioner in the Star Trek: The Original Series first season episode "The Conscience of the King".

He filmed his scenes between Wednesday 14 September 1966 and Friday 16 September 1966, and on Wednesday 21 September 1966 at Desilu Stage 9 and Stage 10.

A third-generation Brooklyn native, Moss began his career on Broadway in 1930 and continued to perform plays there until the late 1950s. In the mid-1940s, he added television and movies to his acting range, working there until the late 1970s.

Moss co-starred in Border Incident (1949, starring Ricardo Montalban) and Kim (1950, co-starring Dean Stockwell as the titular character, along with Michael Ansara and Hamilton Camp (in uncredited roles). He also appeared in supporting roles in films like Viva Zapata! (1952), Salome (1953, with John Crawford), Hell's Island (1955, with Monty O'Grady), The Fool Killer (1965, with Salome Jens), and Gambit (1966, with Roger C. Carmel, John Abbott, Noél De Souza, Tania Lemani, William Meader, and Victor Tayback).

Moss was a prolific guest actor in many television series, including Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Rifleman (with Paul Fix), Route 66 (starring Glenn Corbett), The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (with John Hoyt, Gil Perkins, Jim Michael, and George Sawaya), The Time Tunnel (starring James Darren, Lee Meriwether, and Whit Bissell, with Abraham Sofaer and Rhodes Reason), The Monkees (directed by Alexander Singer), Bonanza (with Lou Antonio, Ned Romero, and Troy Melton, directed by Marc Daniels), Serpico (with Stephen Macht and Jack Perkins), and Fantasy Island (starring Ricardo Montalban, with Sid Haig).

He was the father of Jeff Moss, a founding writer of the PBS television program Sesame Street. He died of lung cancer on 15 December 1989. [2]
