AT: "ar" The Armstrong-type was a type of starship used by Starfleet in the mid-23rd century. This type was unique for Starfleet in that some of its ships were painted brown.
Specifications
A typical ship of this type had two outboard nacelles and an inboard nacelle. These nacelles were connected by swept pylons to the underside of the primary hull. Similar to the Miranda-class starship in the prime reality, an Armstrong-type starship was equipped with a rollbar module. Extending from the trailing edge of the primary hull, and connected to the rollbar by smaller pylons, there was a structure housing the impulse drive.

Two Armstrong-type ships in 2259
A ship of this type, the USS Armstrong, participated in the combat prior to the destruction of Vulcan in 2258. (Star Trek)
A year later, Prior to the USS Enterprise's departure to Qo'noS, two ships of this type were at Starbase 1. One had a brown-colored hull and the other had a gray-hull. (Star Trek Into Darkness)
