Argus X was the tenth planet in the Argus planetary system. The atmosphere was capable of supporting humanoid life-forms.This uninhabited planet was located over 1000 light years from the Tycho system.
In 2268, the USS Enterprise conducted a planetary survey of Argus X, discovering a large vein of tritanium ore. Captain James T. Kirk sent a recommendation to Starfleet for a survey vessel to be dispatched to this planet as a result of the rich find.
Also discovered on the planet by the Enterprise landing party was the dangerous dikironium cloud creature, which attacked and killed (or nearly killed) five security guards. (TOS: "Obsession")
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), the Argus system was located in or near Federation space, in the Alpha Quadrant. This system was a single star system. Argus was a M-class star with a magnitude of +9.
