20th century map depicting the Arctic Circle region.

The Arctic Circle is a region on Earth, roughly surrounding the planet's North Pole.

In 2153, human scientists that were part of the Arctic Archaeology Team found the remains of a crashed Borg sphere and its occupants. (ENT: "Regeneration")

The writers intended for the Borg remains to have just been discovered because a glacier had recently moved, uncovering it.
