Archaeology and anthropology officer (or A&A officer) was a staff position on Federation starships in the 23rd century. Lt. Carolyn Palamas was A&A officer on the Enterprise when it visited Pollux IV. (TOS: "Who Mourns for Adonais?").
Background Notes
In the TNG era, it would seem this position still exists, possibly with the same name. Dr. Ramsey was mentioned as being in charge of archaeology on the starship Yamato by Captain Varley in his log entry in TNG: "Contagion." Lt. Marla Aster was archaeologist on the Enterprise-D until her death in TNG: "The Bonding."
