Background information[]
This star's quadrant of origin is inferred based on the position of neighboring locations – the Altair system (Altair III), Andor, Babel, Delta Vega, Eminiar, Janus VI, and Rigel – as seen in the star charts appearing in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and in the Star Trek: Picard episode "Maps and Legends".
According to Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets II"), the Antares (Alpha Scorpii) star system was a binary star system with a M-class star and a B-class star.
Apocrypha[]
In the Webster episode "Webtrek", the Enterprise-D went to red alert as it struggled to "clear the gravitational pull of Antares" and enter the 'time continuum'.
