There have (probably) been at least two Federation starships to bear the name USS Antares.
USS Antares (NCC-501)
The first starship Antares was in service in the 23rd century. It was a small, 20-man scout. In 2266, it found a young boy named Charles Evans on the planet Thasus. Antares captain Ramart transferred the boy to the USS Enterprise.
The Antares was destroyed when young Charlie used his psychokinetic powers to "remove" the ship's baffle plate, causing a warp core breach. (TOS: "Charlie X")
