Anodyne relay

An anodyne relay

An anodyne relay, or anodyne circuit, was a piece of technology used for various purposes on Federation starships.

In 2372, the USS Voyager came across Pralor Automated Unit 3947 damaged in space. Lieutenant B'Elanna Torres connected a series of modified anodyne relays to its chromodynamic power module, which allowed her to infuse warp plasma into its energy matrix. Torres later told 3947, that he would have to remodulate the relays periodically. (VOY: "Prototype")

When Neelix had a problem with a thermal array in his galley later that year, Samantha Wildman noted that he needed a new set of anodyne relays. (VOY: "Deadlock")

In 2373, there was a minor malfunction aboard Voyager. Tom Paris bet that the anodyne relay was responsible, while B'Elanna Torres said it was a plasma conduit. Paris won, and had Torres join him in the Klingon martial arts program. (VOY: "Distant Origin")

That same year, while traveling with Odo aboard a runabout, Quark complained about a buzzing noise coming from under a panel. Odo suggested that it was a faulty anodyne circuit, to which Quark replied that faulty anodyne circuits make a hissing sound. (DS9: "The Ascent")

While repairing the EPS grid aboard the USS Discovery in 3189, Paul Stamets replaced a damaged anodyne relay in a Jefferies tube with Jett Reno's assistance. (DIS: "Far From Home")
