Anastasia Komananov was a character in the holoprogram Julian Bashir, Secret Agent. She was an operative for the KGB, and a rival spy to the main character played by Julian Bashir. However, despite being on opposite sides of the cold war between their respective nations Bashir and Komanaov respected each other's abilities and even became lovers within the program.
In 2372 the explosion of the USS Orinoco caused the transporter patterns of its crew to be temporarily stored with the program. The character of Komananov temporarily took on the physical characteristics of Kira Nerys. Given his character's romantic history with Komananov, Bashir naturally found the change jarring. When Vic Fontaine was playing matchmaker for Kira and Odo, he modified the character of Anastasia Komananov to become Lola Chrystal. It took him an hour to get rid of her Russian accent. (DS9: "His Way")
