Template:Realworld Alfred Ainsworth is a video playback engineer who worked on 2009's Star Trek, produced and directed by J.J. Abrams. He previously worked with Abrams and many other Star Trek production staff members on the 2006 film Mission: Impossible III, also from Paramount Pictures.
Ainsworth began his video playback career as an employee of Video Image in the early 1990s. During his tenure, he worked on such films as Gattaca (featuring Elizabeth Dennehy),Face/Off (featuring John Carroll Lynch and Harve Presnell), Con Air (starring Colm Meaney), Turbulance (featuring Ben Cross, Catherine Hicks, Scott Lawrence, and James MacDonald), Down Periscope (starring Kelsey Grammer), The Rock (featuring David Bowe, Raymond Cruz, Willie Garson, Marshall Teague, Tony Todd, and Tom Towles), Speed (featuring Carlos Carrasco, Richard Lineback, Jordan Lund, and Alan Ruck) and Paramount's Clear and Present Danger (featuring Vaughn Armstrong, Reg E. Cathey, Raymond Cruz, Elizabeth Dennehy, Ellen Geer, Aaron Lustig, John Putch, Cameron Thor, and Harris Yulin).
After departing Video Image, Ainsworth found work on films such as My Favorite Martian (starring Christopher Lloyd, Wallace Shawn, and Ray Walston), Inspector Gadget (featuring Rene Auberjonois and Andy Dick), Magnolia (featuring Jim Beaver, Henry Gibson, Pat Healy, Don McManus, and Michael Shamus Wiles), The Perfect Storm (starring Bob Gunton and Christopher McDonald), and S1m0ne (starring Winona Ryder). His more recent credits have included Get Smart (starring Dwayne Johnson), Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (featuring Lee Arenberg, Vanessa Branch, and Greg Ellis), Syriana (starring David Clennon, Robert Foxworth, and Alexander Siddig), Mr. & Mrs. Smith (featuring Jennifer Morrison), and both National Treasure films (the first starring Christopher Plummer; the second, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, starring Bruce Greenwood).
Star Trek was Ainsworth's fourth collaboration with cinematographer Dan Mindel. They previously worked together on the films Enemy of the State (featuring Dan Butler), Domino (featuring Stanley Kamel and Andy Milder), and the aforementioned Mission: Impossible III. Incidentally, Star Trek is also the third film Ainsworth has worked on that was written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, following The Island (which featured Ethan Phillips, Noa Tishby, Tim Halligan, Glenn Morshower, and Michael Canavan).
