Alfin-Bernard was a binary star that was in or near Federation space. (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise")
In an alternate 2366, Alfin-Bernard was marked on a tactical situation monitor showing the fleet deployments in the Federation-Klingon War. (TNG: "Yesterday's Enterprise" display graphic) In 2367, the same chart was used in the prime timeline in Captain Benjamin Maxwell's ready room on the USS Phoenix. (TNG: "The Wounded")
Alfin and Bernard were only listed, in an alternate timeline, on a tactical situation monitor showing progress of the Klingons in their war with the Federation. "Alfin" was notable as the name of a character from Crusher Joe, an anime series in the vein of Dirty Pair.
