The location of Aldebaran on "The Explored Galaxy" star chart
Aldebaran III was the inhabited third planet in the Aldebaran planetary system. This planet was located in the Alpha Quadrant, within 90 light years of the Sol system, in or near the Ficus sector. Its location in the Milky Way Galaxy was depicted on a Federation star chart in 2293. A few years prior to 2267, Janet and Theodore Wallace performed experiments using carbohydrate compounds to slow the aging of plants on an outpost on Aldebaran III. (TOS: "The Deadly Years")
Aldebaran was misspelled as "Aldeberan" on "The Explored Galaxy" star chart. The planet was located between the Tholian Assembly and Romulus. Both were identified in DS9: "Call to Arms" as being located in the Alpha Quadrant.
According to the Star Trek: Star Charts ("United Federation of Planets I"), Aldebaran III (or Alpha Tauri III) was Aldebaran III was a Federation member in 2378.
