Alameda was an island city located in the greater San Francisco Bay area of California, in the United States of America. The city was located across the bay from San Francisco. In the mid-1980s, Alameda was the site of Alameda N.A.S., a US Navy base, which housed the aircraft carrier, USS Enterprise (CVN-65). The location of this city was depicted on a San Francisco Muncipal Railway map.
After traveling back in time to 1986, Pavel Chekov and Uhura were assigned to locate the naval base in Alameda in an effort to obtain uranium for the dilithium crystal chamber on the HMS Bounty. (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home)
