The Air Defense Command (ADC) was a command of the United States Air Force in the mid-20th century. By 1969, the US 498th Airbase Group was part of the ADC.
In that year, the ADC was alarmed when an Unidentified flying object (the USS Enterprise after entering an accidental time warp) was detected in the atmosphere, and ordered the 498th Group to scramble an F-104 Starfighter and intercept. (TOS: "Tomorrow is Yesterday")
