In 2367, he was a lieutenant assigned to the engineering department of the USS Enterprise-D. During a routine power transfer conduit service, when the starship was performing scheduled impulse maneuvers, Adams and Lieutenant Grant re-energized all the conduit segments by the end of the second shift.
