Star Trek: The Motion Picture was previously assumed to have taken place in this year by the Star Trek Chronology (which is reproduced in part on http://www.startrek.com . However, a later VOY episode ("Q2") established that James Kirk's five-year mission ended in 2270, meaning that the film's timeframe of "two-and-a-half years" after TOS would place it in late 2272 or the first half of 2273.
