- On Earth, a noteworthy event occurs regarding the use of fossil fuel as an energy source. (ENT: "Carpenter Street")
- During a trip back in time to Detroit circa 2004, Jonathan Archer tells T'Pol that Humans had known since the 1970s that Earth's fossil fuel supply was limited. He begins to tell her about a noteworthy event in 2061 related to this issue, but his explanation is interrupted by their mission.
- A computer graphic seen in ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part II" states that the first successful demonstration of lightspeed propulsion by Zefram Cochrane, which heralded First Contact with members of the Vulcan race, took place this year. However, this seems to contradict dialogue from the episode VOY: "Friendship One", in which the actual first test of a warp engine was established to have occurred two years later, not to mention the events established in Star Trek: First Contact.
