On Earth, cryonics, following the directive of "freeze you now, heal you later", have become very popular and a cryonics satellite is launched into Earth orbit. Amongst its occupants are Claire Raymond, Ralph Offenhouse and "Sonny" Clemonds. The satellite eventually drifts out of orbit, and reaches the vicinity of the Kazis system by 2364, where it is intercepted by the USS Enterprise-D. (TNG "The Neutral Zone")
